The Parish of St. Paul is a founding supporter of the Centre Street Food Pantry in Newton Centre, which is located in the basement of Trinity Episcopal Church. The pantry was started several years ago as a collaborative project of several Episcopal churches in Newton. And although there was already a very viable food pantry located in Waban, another Newton village, we realized that there was a growing need for food assistance in our city. And so several of the eight Episcopal churches got together and planted the seed for the pantry that now serves hundreds of folks each month.
Members of our parish have been a part of the project from its inception. Our parishoners have secured 501c3 legal status, applied for grants to provide refrigeration and other facility needs, designed the pantry logo, undertaken the public relations and promotional work, raised thousands of dollars, collected truckloads of food, volunteered countless hours of time, and if that were not enough, the Executive Director and two of the current Board Members are also from the Parish of St. Paul.
The project of feeding God’s sheep is near and dear to the heart of our community, and we can use all of the help we can muster. So if you are interested in helping with this ministry, please consider yourself enlisted! Just click on the above email address to get started.
